Ten years ago we went to Virginia Winters's book launch. Please enjoy this write-up of the event, and Dr. Winters's biography. Viola Whitney Pratt (1892-1984) was a Bobcaygeon cottager, writer, magazine editor and book reviewer. On May 23, 2013, we attended the launch of Dorothy L. Thompson's book, Threads from the Loom of Time. Blanche Hales Squires (1892-1971) spent her childhood in Lindsay, graduated from Lindsay Collegiate, and was a local teacher before becoming a poet and newspaper correspondent. Pratt and Viola Whitney Pratt, Claire became a “vanguard of mid-twentieth century Canadian publishing.” Notable writers that Claire worked closely with during her time at McClelland & Stewart: Leonard Cohen, Peter C.
