The Next Meeting of the Writers Circle

Is there a manuscript you wrote years ago still hanging around in the back of your closet? Have you always wanted to write a book, but don’t know where to start?

The City of Kawartha Lakes Public Library and writer in residence, Jessica Becking, invites aspiring writers of fiction and creative non-fiction to attend the next meeting of the biweekly Writer’s Circle on April 10th at 6:30 pm in the Meeting Room of the Lindsay Library.

Recent graduate of Kingston University’s Creative Writing and Publishing M.A. program and alumni of I.E. Weldon Secondary School, Jessica is a writer of literary fiction. She has studied under many published authors including Kevin Barry and James Miller and has worked with major publishing houses in a variety of capacities. Her short stories and essays can be found both online and in print.

Sharon Overend

SHARON OVEREND’s fiction, creative non-fiction and poetry has appeared in Canadian, American and UK literary journals and anthologies. In 2010, she won the Random House Student Award from University of Toronto, School of Continuing Studies, and in 2018 won the Rotary Club (Stratford Ontario Writers’ Festival) Short Story contest.  In 2014, she was nominated for a Journey Prize, the celebrated Canadian literary prize for short stories.

Rowsell, Lori Jean Rowsell

Lori Jean Rowsell is a multi-genre author and a member of the CSFFA. Her short stories have appeared in two Kawartha Lakes Stories anthologies. Her debut Young Adult novel, No Other Love, was published in early 2022. Professionally, she is a nurse who specializes in geriatric care and infection control.
